Carnaby Rise Primary School believes that children learn best with effective planning, teaching and learning and assessment based on the Western Australian Curriculum.
While our school endorses particular programs and resources, such as Letters and Sounds, Words their Way and First Steps, these are not the curriculum. Teachers make the judgements as to how to use these tools to best support children to achieve the expected standards of the Western Australian Curriculum. Our learning focuses on effective planning considering differentiation to cater for all our students, quality teaching using Madeline Hunters lesson design and cooperative learning and purposeful assessment. We believe that assessment should be an integral part of learning. It should be fair, educative, designed to meet specific purpose, lead to informative reporting and lead to school wide evaluation purposes.
