‘Kiss and Drive’ Information – Pomodora Ave
The purpose of ‘Kiss and Drive’ is to provide a safe place for students from Year 1 – 6 to be dropped off and picked up and to alleviate parent traffic at peak times.
‘Kiss and Drive’ works the same as a taxi rank. Join the line and move forward towards the front where your child will be waiting with a teacher.
How to use ‘Kiss and Drive’
How to use ‘Kiss and Drive’ in the morning
- Do not leave your car or turn off the engine as you will need to close up the gaps as other children are collected
- Children should enter and leave from the left side of the car only
- If your child is not waiting at the top of the line with the teacher you will be asked to move on and join the end of the line
- Do not double park at any time
- Please be polite and courteous to staff at all times
- Cars parked in the car park during ‘Kiss and Drive’ times will not be able to vacate
How to use ‘Kiss and Drive’ in the afternoon
- Parents to park in the marked bays of the car park currently used for Kiss and Drive – If possible reverse into the bay to allow for easy departure and turnover of cars.
- PARENTS PARKED MUST STAY WITH THEIR CAR
- If there are NOT any spots in the carpark please circle the block and return
- A staff member will be in the carpark to assist parents with parking and students to find their parent’s car
- Students will sit on the wall/s next to the carpark and wait for a staff member to direct them to the car using the surrounding footpaths or to escort them to the car. THEY WILL NOT RUN THROUGH THE CARPARK
- The car park can be used during school hours – from 2.30pm of each day it is expected any car parked will have the driver in it
- Every bay (approximately 35) will be available as Carnaby Staff will not be able to use it to park during the day
Notes to Consider:
- Talk to your child about how you will pick them up using ‘Kiss and Drive’
- Ask your child to make their way to ‘Kiss and Drive’ promptly
- Staff will be on hand to assist
- Children will only be able to wait at the front of the school in the ‘Kiss and Ride’ designated area
- Children are capable from year 1 to use this system with practice and assistance
- Plan your timing to align with school start and finishing times
Kindy and Pre Primary Car Park
With over 200 students coming through the ECE gates, parking is limited onsite. To alleviate the congestion, we have the following actions in place which has been working very well to keep our Carnaby kids safe.
Before School
· utilise parking at oval and surrounding streets
· walk in fine weather, utilise manned crosswalk on Kingsway if applicable
· use the bays in front of ECE as 2 min drop zone only, this allows a large volume of traffic to flow through between 8.25-8.45.
The ECE gate will be opened at 8.20, It is important to note that children need to be supervised by parents or carers until the door opens at 8.30.
After School
Kindy & Pre Primary students are to be collected promptly from their class by a parent or carer. Students that are not collected when the siren goes will be taken to the office to wait with the Principal. If you wish to add an alternative person to the list, please inform the school via email so they can be added to your contact list. Staff will not release your child to anyone not on the contact list or without prior communication with the class teacher, this is to ensure the safety of our Carnaby students.
Older Siblings – if you wish an older sibling to pick your child up from class, please inform the class teacher in writing for this to occur.
Please do not park anywhere along the ECE driveways as this makes it very unsafe for our families and staff that are trying to exit the school grounds.
